Brokerage Business
Since its founding, KGI Securities' brokerage business
has been guided by principles of integrity, innovation,
professionalism, dedication to customer service, and speedy
and error-free execution of transactions and robust security of
transactions. It is through dedication to these principles that
KGI Securities has maintained a stable performance despite
keen competition.
After the acquisition of Taishin Securities on December 19,
2009, KGI Securities' brokerage market share increased
to 8.02% (total of 88 branches) from 3.745% (total of 35
branches), making it the second-largest securities firm in
Taiwan.
Over the years, KGI Securities has dedicated considerable
effort and resources to developing a high quality online trading
platform that can handle speedy and secure transactions.
In this endeavor, it has taken advantage of the very latest
technology to provide mobile devices, web-based and fixed-
line trading. KGI Securities has also kept abreast of the
booming global smartphone trend by developing a trading
platform for mobile phones. Indeed, KGI is well ahead of peers
in offering innovative trading solutions for mobile devices.
Combining proprietary trading technology and various tradable
financial products, KGI Securities' trading platforms ensure
precise connection between asset allocation and cash flow.
High value services and vigorous promotions boosted KGI
Securities' market share of online trading in Taiwan to 2.8%
in 2010, making it the third largest player. We expect this
share to rise further in 2011 on new trading applications and
the integration of existing systems, which will also improve
resource efficiency.
As predicted, the merger of Taishin Securities has yielded
significant positive synergies, adding offshore fund vendors
such as Franklin, Invesco, Investec, Prudential, Jupiter and
BNP Paribas to KGI Securities' client portfolio. The onshore
fund has expanded to include more than 30 counterparties.
KGI Securities looks forward to building strong cooperative
relations with these new clients, which join an existing list of
investment luminaries including offshore fund vendors Fidelity
Securities, JP Morgan Securities and Schroders Securities.
The acquisition of Taishin Securities will both broaden KGI
Securities' financial product offering and diversify investment
risk.
For clients desiring to invest in individual stocks listed in
overseas markets, they need look no further than KGI
Securities' sub-brokerage service, which offers the option of
investing in Hong Kong, US, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and
Luxemburg. The sub-brokerage service features a mandarin
Chinese language service with outstanding value-added and
reasonable handling fees. For instance, the service allows
users to trade in a number of overseas markets through a
single account. Typically, multiple overseas accounts and the
transfer of money abroad are required to do this. Thus, clients
are able to execute orders more efficiently. Furthermore, KGI
added a NT dollar settlement service in 2010 which allows
clients to trade HK and US stocks through their NT dollar
accounts immediately without the need for currency transfer in
advance.
2011 Outlook
In 2011, KGI Securities' brokerage division will continue to
offer comprehensive and versatile stock brokerage services
for global financial markets. It will also be proactive in building
up a Greater China Financial Services Network to provide
domestic and overseas clients with financial services through
extensive, global-reach service channels. Meanwhile, KGI
Securities will work with KGI Insurance Agency Corp. to offer
endowment, unit-linked insurance, life insurance, accident
insurance and health insurance programs.
In addition, by cooperating with regional group members, KGI
Securities will introduce offshore, multi-market investment
services to domestic clients with the aim of helping spread
investment risk. The Company is also developing, in direct
response to client demands for better domestic financial
market services, a variety of products and a new investment
information system through its customer relations management
system.
